Focus On: NCTS What you need to know

Since the UK left the customs union of the EU, there has been an increased need for companies to use transit to move goods into or through the EU Member States. This workshop takes you from a basic review of what transit / NCTS are to the application process to become an authorised consignee/ consignor. It also illustrates how to apply for and use a transit guarantee. With tips on making transit declarations, the role of the Transit Accompanying Document (TAD) and discharging a transit movement.

Description

Since the UK left the EU’s customs union, businesses have increasingly needed to use transit procedures to move goods not only into or through EU Member States but also across countries covered by the Common Transit Convention (CTC). This one-day course offers a comprehensive understanding of Transit and the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS), which facilitates the temporary suspension of duties and taxes as goods move across borders.

The course covers key transit scenarios, such as:

  1. Export from the UK to Germany: When exporting goods to Germany, transit is required to move goods efficiently through multiple customs territories without incurring duties at each checkpoint.

  1. Import into the UK from Turkey via the EU: If you are importing goods from a CTC member country like Turkey and moving them through the EU to the UK, transit ensures smooth customs processing until final clearance.

Participants will learn how to become an Authorised Consignor or Authorised Consignee, apply for and manage a transit guarantee, and make transit declarations. The course also explores the role of the Transit Accompanying Document (TAD) and provides step-by-step guidance on creating and discharging transit movements. By covering all countries under the CTC, this workshop equips businesses with the knowledge to manage transit movements globally and ensure compliance with international customs regulations.

Who Should Consider this Course?

Following Brexit, exporters, importers, agents, and carriers are often required to use the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) for most movements involving the EU27. This course is perfect for anyone involved in these goods movements, including export/import coordinators, logistics managers, and customs professionals managing international shipments between the UK, the EU, and other countries within the Common Transit Convention (CTC).
